No Money In XNA Community Games
I wish I had something else insightful to say… Apparently it makes absolutely no business sense to work on an XNA game.

I guess people were expecting this thing to follow in App Store’s footsteps? There’s no novelty to buying games for a console like there is for the iphone. The novelty this time is not in the consumer’s eyes, but in the fledgling developer’s eyes.

Well, I think it’s more complicated than that. The App Store is the only (minus illegal) source for games on the iPhone. XNA Community Games need to compete not only against better funded XBLA games, but also AAA titles as well.
As bad as the iPhone App Store interface is, the XNA Community Games one is worse.
There’s also the question of affluence: The minimum 12 month cost for an iPhone acquisition is almost $1200.00. The Xbox’s is less than 1/4th of that.
And then convenience. You can buy an iPhone app while sitting outside of a store waiting for your girlfriend to finish her 3 hour shopping spree. I’m much more inclined to make an impulse purchase in that situation than I am when I’m killing a few hours in front of my TV.
